1. Raw material preparation

Raw material selection: The main raw material for PP strapping is polypropylene (PP) resin, usually polypropylene plastic particles or resin are chosen as the base material. In addition, according to the requirements, some additives such as antioxidants, anti UV agents, fillers, etc. can be added to improve the performance of PP strapping.

Mixing: Based on the characteristics of the required product, additives and PP resin are evenly mixed in the mixing machine to ensure stable quality of the finished product.

2. Extrusion molding

Melt extrusion: Heat the mixed PP resin to a molten state and extrude it through the mold of the extruder to form a preliminary polypropylene strip. During this process, plastic particles are melted by heating and forced through a mold to form a thin strip.

Forming width control: By adjusting the width and temperature of the mold, the thickness and width of the preliminary strip are controlled.

3. Cooling and shaping

Cooling system: The extruded PP strip is rapidly cooled through a cooling groove or cooling roller to prevent deformation and shape it. The cooling process is very important as it directly affects the strength and quality of the packaging tape.

Shaping adjustment: By cooling, the strip becomes hard and can be further stretched to increase strength.

4. Stretching process

Unidirectional stretching: For ordinary PP strapping, the unidirectional stretching process is used to elongate the length of the strapping through stretching. This process can significantly improve the tensile strength and rigidity of the strapping, making it more suitable for packaging heavy objects.

Biaxially oriented (BOPP process): For some high-performance packaging tapes, the biaxially oriented process (BOPP, i.e. biaxially oriented polypropylene) is used to stretch the tape in both longitudinal and transverse directions, thereby enhancing its strength and durability. Bi directional stretching can improve the tensile strength and tear resistance of the packaging tape.

5. Cutting and organizing

Cutting: The stretched strapping needs to be cut to the desired width and length. During the cutting process, high-speed cutting machines are usually used for precise cutting to ensure that the size of each strapping strip is consistent.

Sorting and Leveling: The cut PP strapping will be leveled to ensure its flatness. If there are wrinkles or unevenness on the surface of the packing tape, it will affect the subsequent use effect.

6. Winding

Roll forming: The cut PP strapping will be rolled into a roll for subsequent storage, transportation, and use. By using a winding machine, the packaging tape is smoothly rolled into a roll, usually with a certain core diameter and roll length set.

Packaging and Marking: The rolled PP strapping will be packaged and labeled with information such as product specifications, production date, and manufacturer.

7. Quality Inspection and Testing

Strength testing: After production is completed, the strapping will undergo various performance tests such as tensile strength and tensile strength to ensure that each batch of products meets quality standards.

Size and appearance inspection: Check the width, thickness, flatness, and surface finish of the packaging tape to ensure it meets customer requirements. UV resistance and weather resistance testing: For packaging tapes that require outdoor use, UV resistance, oxidation resistance, and other performance tests are also required.

8. Packaging and factory delivery

Final packaging: The packaging tape that has undergone quality inspection will be packaged into rolls, usually wrapped in plastic film or cardboard boxes to prevent damage during transportation.

Storage and transportation: The packaged PP strapping will be stored in the warehouse, waiting for shipment. Ensure tight packaging to avoid moisture and contamination.
