In our daily life, we can see wrapping food in cling film everywhere to keep the food fresh and avoid smell. There are mainly two kinds of cling film for wrapping food: PE cling film and PVC cling film. So what’s the difference between these two types of cling film?
1. Different materials
Polyethylene fresh-keeping film is called PE fresh-keeping film (PE Cling Film) for short. The fresh-keeping film of this material is mainly used for food packaging, such as fruits, vegetables and meat. Vinyl chloride fresh-keeping film is called PVC fresh-keeping film (PVC Cling Film) . This material is also used for food packaging, but it is limited to the packaging of vegetables and fruits. It is not allowed to wrap food or meat containing oil. It is harmful to human safety.
2. Different transparency
Due to different raw materials, the transparency of PE fresh-keeping film (PE Cling Film) is poor, while that of PVC fresh-keeping film (PVC Cling Film) is relatively good.
3. Different toughness
In the production process of PVC fresh-keeping film(PVC Cling Film), a lot of plasticizers will be added, which also results in the very good toughness of PVC fresh-keeping film(PVC Cling Film), while PE fresh-keeping film (PE Cling Film) has no additives, so the toughness is relatively poor.
4. Different colors
PVC fresh-keeping film (PVC Cling Film)generally presents light yellow in roll, while PE cling film presents white in roll
5. Whether it can be heated
As the PVC fresh-keeping film (PVC Cling Film) is made of vinyl chloride, it is not recommended to use it for heating when wrapping food. It will release gases harmful to human health. The PE cling film can withstand a temperature of 150 ℃, which is suitable for heating.
6. Different self viscosity
PVC fresh-keeping film (PVC Cling Film) is the most commonly used material when packaging vegetables and fruits, but the viscosity of PE fresh-keeping film (PE cling film) is relatively insufficient due to the plasticizer added in the production process, which also improves its viscosity to a certain extent.
7. Whether fogging occurs
When we wrap fruits and vegetables, we not only want to keep them fresh, but also to look beautiful. Therefore, we need to choose a fresh-keeping film that will not fog (water droplets) inside. The antifogging performance of PE cling film is relatively poor, and the “water mist” formed when cold and hot cannot be dissipated, while the PVC fresh-keeping film(PVC Cling Film) has a strong antifogging property.
