What is the difference between Pof shrink film and PVC shrink film？

POF shrink film and PVC shrink film are both popular shrink films in the packaging industry. What’s the difference between the two shrink films?

 

1. Different materials and production processes

 

POF heat shrinkable film is a kind of heat shrinkable film with high transparency, high shrinkage and good heat sealing performance, which is made by extruding the inner, middle and outer layers of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) as the intermediate layer and co polypropylene (PP) as the inner and outer layers in special equipment. PVC heat shrinkable film is made of ethylene PVC resin mixed with more than ten kinds of auxiliary materials and then blown twice.

 

2. Different physical characteristics

 

POF shrink film is thin and tough, with uniform thickness, excellent moisture resistance and soft texture The tensile strength is high, the tear resistance is high, and the shrinkage is adjustable. The PVC shrink film is thick and brittle, uneven in thickness, poor in moisture resistance, hard and brittle in texture, low in tear resistance, low in shrinkage, and poor in rubbing resistance.

 

3. Different cold resistance

 

POF shrink film has excellent cold resistance. It is not hard, brittle and easy to crack at – 50 ℃. It can be used for frozen food packaging after shrink packaging, the packaged materials shall be stored at – 50 ℃ – 95 ℃ for a long time and remain stable static electricity and anti fog treatment are provided to prevent dust pollution and keep the product clean and bright. PVC shrink film has poor cold resistance. It will embrittle in winter or after freezing, so it is easy to break during transportation. The longer the shrink package is, the tighter the shrink will be, and the packed object will be deformed. No static electricity elimination treatment is provided, and the product is easy to be contaminated with dust, making the product pollution vague.

 

4. Different environmental protection

 

POF shrink film is non-toxic and does not produce toxic odor during processing. It complies with FDA and USDA standards of the United States. PVC shrink film will release slight toxicity after heating. Processing will produce odor, which has been gradually banned by some countries.

 

5. Different security

 

After POF shrink packaging, the four corners of the sealing area are soft, which will not cut the skin and is also resistant to rubbing.After PVC shrink packaging, the four corners of the seal are hard and sharp, which is easy to cut people’s skin.
