Why does PET strapping have tear resistance?

1. Strength and toughness of molecular structure

Long chain molecular structure: PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is a highly crystalline polymer with relatively long and orderly molecular chains. Long chain molecules are firmly bound together through interactions such as van der Waals forces and hydrogen bonds, providing strong tensile strength. Due to the ability of these long-chain molecules to disperse external forces, PET strapping is less prone to cracking or tearing under stress.

Crystallinity: PET material has a certain degree of crystallinity, and the crystalline region allows the molecular chains to be arranged more orderly in a certain direction. This arrangement increases the strength of the material, enabling it to better withstand external impacts and tensile forces, avoiding breakage or tearing when subjected to tearing.

2. High tensile strength

Tensile strength refers to the ability of a material to resist fracture when subjected to tensile force. The tensile strength of PET strapping is high, which means it can withstand significant tensile forces without easily breaking or tearing. Even during the stretching process, PET strapping can distribute stress between molecular chains and will not easily tear.

The tear resistance performance is also related to the arrangement direction of the molecular chains. After thermal stretching treatment, the molecular chains of PET strapping are arranged more orderly along the stretching direction, which improves the ability to resist stretching and tearing.

3. The toughness and ductility of materials PET material has good toughness and ductility. When subjected to external forces, PET strapping can absorb energy to a certain extent and undergo plastic deformation, thereby avoiding direct tearing. Although PET is a high-strength material, it still has moderate ductility under stress, allowing it to disperse external forces without sudden fracture.

4. Chemical and environmental adaptability

PET has strong chemical resistance and adaptability, and it can maintain stable physical properties in various environments. Under harsh environmental conditions, PET strapping can still maintain good tear resistance, avoiding brittleness or tearing caused by external chemicals, moisture, or extreme temperatures.
